LONDON, W11 2NG
Map
On a quiet street in Notting Hill, stands this converted neo-classical mansion. It hardly looks like a hotel, yet it enjoys a worldwide reputation as the most exclusive hideaway hotel in London.
For close to a quarter of a century, it has played host to the world of music, show business and fashion, great names have made it their second home.
The Portobello Hotel was founded in 1971, by Tim and Cathy Herring, designed by Julie Hodgess and is run by managing partner Johnny Ekperigin, along with the equally famous Julie's restaurant.
“The Portobello Hotel doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels more like spending a few days with a rich, funky aunt who happens to live in London's Notting Hill”…

“The Portobello discovered long ago that the key to success was to play up its quirks and style. This is a hotel that happily flaunts its own eccentricity. The rooms –unusual, inventive, cosy, and very sexy – have had that much admired haphazard, casual look that is deemed so typically English.”
*Newsweek*
The Portobello Hotel was voted Sexiest beds by Harpers and Queen
“Wanna know the coolest place to stay in London . Why, the Portobello Hotel of course. This small, offbeat hotel attracts a real mish-mash of guests from actors and rock stars to models and writers”
