01 / 04 - 27 / 09
Organizer: Manchester New Muslim Network
Price: 0.00

Attending this seminar will give you the answers to the some of the questions that weigh heavily on your mind as a new Muslim such as:

What is the purpose of this life?
Where did we come from? And why are we here?
Is life just about work, family and then it ends...?
What is expected from me in this life?
Which direction should I take? How do I want to live my life?
Is there a Creator? What is my Creator expecting from me?
How can I truly please my Creator?
What is the roadmap to success in life?
What are the benefits of Islam in my life?
I want to please him but ...
Who is my declared enemy in this life?
What to do in times of difficulties?
But I feel so depressed about life...
What will happen when I die? Is this the end?

Business Networking Milton Keynes - BNI Garnet

16 / 03
Organizer: BNI GARNET
Price: 15.00
Don't miss out - Visit our business networking events and generate new business!
Last year, we formed a lunchtime business referral group in Newport Pagnell, designed for directors of established businesses which offer a first-class service or product. One of our members has suggested that you might be interested in taking a look.
Within the past 12 months members have received referrals which exceed £700,000 in value. This is largely down to the astute and commercially aware nature of our members who are listed on our website. Also, within our group there are organisations which have:
• Won prestigious awards • helped their customers reach ambitious goals • enviable track records • high media profiles (inc TV) relating to their industry.
We have elected to follow the BNI framework, although we have also adopted some of the best attributes we’ve come across elsewhere. If you would like to come and see how we operate, and you do not compete with one of our existing members, please book in for lunch.
The BNI Experience
Being active in BNI is like having up to 40 sales people working for you, because your fellow members will be carrying your cards and referring your business to people they meet, without you having to pay them any salaries or commission. Successful businesses depend on 'word-of-mouth' marketing as the best form of promotion there is.
BNI provides a structured, supportive, business environment in which local business people can get together to network, learn valuable new marketing skills and develop the strong personal relationships that lead to trust and the consequent generation of significant business for each other.
BNI is based on the philosphy of Givers Gain® - if I give you business, you'll want to give me business.
The Meeting Agenda
You don't have to worry about having to think of the next thing to say at BNI meetings, as the whole meeting follows a planned agenda designed to result in the maximum benefit for all the group members.
Although there is a fixed format, and there is a serious focus on generating business, there is also plenty of scope for the members to enjoy themselves and have fun at the meetings as well. The meetings are often an exhilarating start to the day's business for most of the members!
The meeting starts at 12:00 sharp with 15 minutes of open networking prior to lunch being served.

How to present your company on ONE minute
So, you have one minute to make an impact at a networking meeting. What do you do ?
Plan. There is no use in being asked to speak and making it up as you go. Make an introduction for yourself, so you are ready. Lets face it Every networking meeting someone will ask what do you do?
How to start.Introduce your self and your company. “Hello, I’m fred Bloggs from Widgets and co.”
Pick a middle: Take one from the following

Pick a product or service - say why it is good.
Pick a customers problem, Tell a story - say how you helped.
Describe a job you have been doing this week.
Describe what a good referral would be for you. Be Specific.

How to Make it Better: Bring a Prop. “Look we are the only company in the world that make Green rubber Widgets”. If you dont know what to bring, ask the other members at the meeting.
How to close: Ask the members to do something.

Ask them to Listen for a phase ”Oh no my Widgets got stuck in the door!”
Ask them to Contact someone, ” I need to talk to the manager of Wibbery Widgets, Can anyone make ain introduction ?”

How to End: Repeat your Introduction. “Fred Bloggs from Widgets and co.”

Networking Event BNI St Pauls

Organizer: BNI St Pauls
Price: 11.25
Get new local business - Networking event Café Rouge,Opposite St Paul's Cathedral.5 Condor House,St Pauls Churchyard,London,Greater London,EC4M 8AY
Wednesdays at 7:00am – 9:00 a.m (Breakfast fee, £15)
PLEASE NOTE: This event requires reservation.
We are a group of local businesses who meet regularly and work effectively to find business opportunities for each other. A lot of business is done between the members themselves; however most of it is generated simply by listening out for potential opportunities in our day to day activities and recommending each other. Recommendations are a very powerful way of converting business leads and often help avoid competing on price. We are a very successful networking group and a seat in our group is worth an average of £35,000 of new business per member per annum. (We monitor the business generated by our members as a result of a referral).
While this is an average and some members generate more and others a little less, we can safely say we are one of the most successful networking group in your local area. Would you like to visit us and see how we could pass business to you? Seats are limited and reservation is required.

The Only Public Speaking Group For People Who Fear Public Speaking...

12 / 06
Organizer: Steve Light
Price: 0.00
Firstly, I'm not a polished, animated,
charming, professional public speaker (yet! hehe).
One thing I do know is that the fear of public speaking can become a real problem in the workplace, at college or university and even at job interviews. AND THAT is what I am PASSIONATE about, helping people overcome their PUBLIC SPEAKING FEARS.

Are you tongue-tied when trying to speak up in meetings?
Do you feel uncomfortable when you are asked questions on the spot?
Are you the one who sits passively in debates or discussions?
Do you often feel sick before a presentation?

I have struggled in these situations, and many many more, believe me. I diagnosed myself with 'social anxiety disorder' 10 years ago. Back then I found it hard to talk on the phone, to walk into a job agency and speak to someone and even found it hard go shopping at the local supermarket, with the fear that I would bump into someone I knew and had to make conversation.
Thankfully, I have overcome my crippling anxiety issues and now I can happily say that I no longer fear public speaking andI am looking forward to supporting you inachieving the same freedom.
Warmest Regards,
Steve P. Light

Zumba® dance was born back in the mid-1990s, the brainchild of celebrity fitness trainer Alberto ‘Beto’ Perez, who happened upon the idea of a fitness regime inspired by his Latin roots back in his native Colombia.
Taking the flavours of traditional salsa and merengue music as his inspiration, and coupling it with exciting aerobics moves, he created the Latin dance workout phenomenon that has got everyone talking. The Zumba Fitness® party has gone from strength to strength ever since.
You too can now join the party and be inspired by the latest fitness craze.

Under the Licensing Act 2003, there is a legal requirement for anyone selling alcohol, or authorising others to sell alcohol, to obtain a qualification that has the accreditation of the Secretary of State. This one day training course satisfies this requirement for those wishing to apply for a personal license. We offer the BIIAB Qualification, which we believe is the best qualification available

Tues 7pm Zumba Toning at Armstrong Hall (MAY 13th IS AT GILLINGSTOOL)

04 / 09
Organizer: Zumba Thornbury
Price: 0.00
55 minutes of Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton & Cumbia dances mixed in with other fantastic World music. There is no better way to spend an hour of dancing than with me, Natasha, at the fantastic Armstrong Hall. There is a massive stage and fabulous sound system, so you can see my feet and really hear the music.
Zumba Toning involves holding hand held light 'Maraccas' so you can shake them to the beat or use them as if they are weights. The songs I use are often slower or have easier to follow moves so you can really get into the song and into the fitness aspect quickly. They are just as much fun as ZUmba but with a slightly more effective outcome.
Suitable for everyone, beginners and experts it doesn't matter if you have danced for years or never tried before, you'll be wiggling & giggling to the brilliant music and haveing a great time.
You can either pay £5 on the door (£4 if you bring your own Zumba Toning sticks) or you can buy one of my pre-paid discount cards at £25 which gives you 6 classes for the price of 5.

Sometime the hall is used for theatre productions - please remember to book your class so I can tell you when we are moving - many thanks x x

Who are we?
WBMC is a club for mountaineers based in the West Midlands and surrounding areas. At almost 300 members, we are the biggest club in the British Mountaineering Council. Our members range from families through to skilled mountaineers, from 1 to 85 years of age.  Whatever the level of your experience and skills you are sure to find similar members to you and a huge amount of support that will bring you many more opportunities to walk and climb.
What do we do?
WBMC organises a wide range of mountaineering meets throughout the year. These range from single day coach meets to the mountains of England and Wales; weekends teaching climbing and general mountaineering skills; through longer trips in the UK, including a Scottish winter climbing week - to trips abroad, including to the Alps and Africa.
We also run a range of social events, including evening walks and mountaineering slide shows, to educate and inspire. The full list of events is shown on the meets list page of our website at
We also have a mountain hut at the bottom of Snowdon - providing comfortable accomodation for up to 15 people and open all year, it provides a great and inexpensive base for members and their families to explore Snowdonia.    Perhaps more importantly, WBMC brings people with a love of the mountains together, sharing a common passion and forging deep friendships that will last forever.

Edinburgh Kettlebell Club Class

08 / 10 - 19 / 10
Organizer: Edinburgh Kettlebell Club
Price: 8.85
Are you interested in burning fat, building muscle, or increasing strength and stamina? Then kettlebell training is a fit for you!
Kettlebells have been around for centuries and are traditional Russian strength training tools. Often described as the hand held gym.
Kettlebells are being used by a wide range of people from professional athletes trying to maximize performance and celebrities looking to achieve body beautiful.

Benefits of Kettlebell Training

Reduced waist line
Reduced body fat and weight
Improved body conditioning, composition and posture
Decrease in stress and fatigue
Increased energy levels
Reduced risk of injury
Functionally fit for the stress of everyday life
Decrease the risk of lower back pain
Good core stabilization
Strengthens the Posterior Chain
Greater athletic performance

The body learns to work as one synergistic unit linked strongly together.

So what exercises are we going to do and how do you structure your kettlebell workout?
The Kettlebell Workout
We are going to link several kettlebell exercises together with little to no rest, so that we can get the benefits of a high intensity workout in little time.
We are going to build muscle, lose fat AND get some great conditioning all at the same time.
We will structure our workout as a strength building circuit:
Workout Structure
1. Lower Body Exercise
2. Upper Body Exercise
3. Full Body Exercise
4. Bodyweight Exercise
5.  Core Exercise
We will move between each exercise with little to no rest – maximum 30 seconds.  This will keep the intensity high, shorten the workout and build muscle fast!
As you get stronger and better conditioned, you can complete the routine more than once, up to three times if you want.
Why It Works
The weight of a kettlebell hangs a few inches below its handle, which makes it more difficult to control. Everything from your grip to your core has to work harder than if you were using a dumbbell, so you get more out of even standard dumbbell moves. This extra muscle activity means your body burns more calories. Couple that with exercises that target the whole body and you have a formula for significant fat loss.
In one hour of class 1-2 x a week you WILL get the firm,  long and lean body of  which you have always dreamed. Finally find complete stress relief  and see what it feels like to be stronger and healthier then ever before! With 1,000 calories burned in one hour, each motion is female specific and result proven.

I understand that the majority of the female population is intimidated by weight training, but kettlebells are a great way to reach your fitness goals and have a blast doing so. I recommend integrating a kettlebell exercise routine or two into your weekly workout regimen. The benefits are completely worth it.

Benefits of Kettlebell Training for Women:

Reduce body fat
Firm entire upper body
Firm entire lower body
Improve core stability
Improve balance and coordination
Increase energy levels
Increase bone density
Improve circulation
Improve sleep
Increase self-esteem

Kettlebell exercises engage the entire body, thus making each movement maximize core stabilization and total-body muscle recruitment. In other words, kettlebells are a great total body workout that improve muscle tone and reduce body fat.

Myths of Women’s Kettlebell Training
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #1 -Kettlebell training makes you bulky and masculine.
Due to the fact that women do not, and cannot, naturally produce as much testosterone (one of the main hormones responsible for increasing muscle size) as males do, it is impossible for a woman to gain huge amounts of muscle mass by merely touching some weights. Unfortunately, the image that may come to your mind is that of professional female bodybuilders. Most of these women, unfortunately, use anabolic steroids (synthetic testosterone) along with other drugs in order to achieve that high degree of muscularity. In addition, most also have good genetics coupled with an unbelievable work ethic that enable them to gain muscle quickly when they spend hours in the gym lifting very heavy weights. Believe me when I say that they do not look like that by accident. Women who conduct weight training without the use of steroids get the firm and fit cellulite-free looking body that you see in most fitness/figure shows these days.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #2 – Exercise increases your chest size.Sorry girls. Women’s breasts are composed mostly of fatty tissue. Therefore, it is impossible to increase breast size through weight training. As a matter of fact, if you go below 12 percent body fat, your breast size will decrease. Weight training does increase the size of the back, so this misconception probably comes from confusing an increase in back size with an increase in cup size. The only way to increase your breast size is by gaining fat or getting breast implants.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #3 – Kettlebell training makes you stiff and musclebound. If you perform all exercises through their full range of motion, flexibility will increase. Therefore, by performing these exercises correctly, your stretching capabilities will increase.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #4 – If you stop weight training your muscles turn into fat. This is like saying that gold can turn into brass. Muscle and fat are two totally different types of tissue. What happens many times is that when people decide to go off their weight training programs they start losing muscle due to inactivity (use it or lose it) and they also usually drop the diet as well. Therefore bad eating habits combined with the fact that their metabolism is lower due to inactivity, and lower degrees of muscle mass, give the impression that the subject’s muscle is being turned into fat while in reality what is happening is that muscle is being lost and fat is being accumulated.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #5 – KEttlebell training turns fat into muscle.More alchemy. This is the equivalent of saying that you can turn any metal into gold; don’t we wish! The way a body transformation occurs is by gaining muscle through weight training and losing fat through aerobics and diet simultaneously. Again, muscle and fat are very different types of tissue. We cannot turn one into the other.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #6 – As long as you exercise you can eat anything that you want. How I wish this were true also! However, this could not be further from the truth. Our individual metabolism determines how many calories we burn at rest and while we exercise. If we eat more calories than we burn on a consistent basis, our bodies will accumulate these extra calories as fat regardless of the amount of exercise that we do. This myth may have been created by people with such high metabolic rates that no matter how much they eat or what they eat, they rarely meet or exceed the amount of calories that they burn in one day unless they put their mind to doing so. Therefore, their weight either remains stable or goes down.
Women’s Kettlebell Training Myth #7 – Women only need to do cardio and if they decide to lift weights, they should be very light.First of all, if you only did cardio then muscle and fat would be burned for fuel. One needs to do weights in order to get the muscle building machine going and thus prevent any loss of muscle tissue. Women that only concentrate on cardio will have a very hard time achieving the look that they want. As far as the lifting of very light weights, this is just more nonsense. Muscle responds to resistance and if the resistance is too light, then there will be no reason for the body to change.

Churchill War Rooms

Churchill War Rooms
Deep beneath the bustle of London lie the original Cabinet War Rooms - today part of the Churchill War Rooms - which sheltered the people at the heart of Britain's wartime government during the Blitz. In 1940, shortly after becoming Prime Minister, Churchill stood in the War Cabinet Room and declared: 'This is the room from which I will direct the war'. Today, you can step back in time to explore the secret headquarters where Churchill and his staff changed the course of history. Find out the stories of the people who walked the maze of corridors as London was being bombed above them. See where Churchill and his War Cabinet met, sometimes late into the night, and look through the lens of history into the Map Room, where the books and charts have remained exactly where they were left in 1945. In the Churchill Museum, explore the man behind the image as you discover more about the influences and pressures that shaped Churchill's life and work.
