London Academy of Burlesque

London Academy of Burlesque
"We've long pointed out that nearly all burlesque roads in London lead back to uber-doyenne Jo King." - Time Out Hi there, My name is Jo King and I am the founder and principal of the London Academy 0f Burlesque (LAOB). When I formed the LAOB, it was the very first school of its kind in Europe. My ethos was, and still is, to help all women to feel fabulous about themselves, regardless of age, shape or dancing ability. I am the only British burlesque performer and teacher with over 30 years experience in this exciting and provocative art-form. I have six fully trained teachers and am in the process of training six more. We don't just teach women the art of burlesque and striptease, we teach MUCH more than that, including how to reconnect with your sensuality, improve your body image and increase your fluidity and elegance in movement. In the last 12 years alone, more than 10,000 women have attended the London Academy of Burlesque and gained invaluable confidence along with the joy of liberating their inner showgirls. I have personally taught and choreographed over 30 percent of Europe's current professional burlesque performers, including some of the UK's most popular burlesquers including; Agent Lynch, Audacity Chutzpah, Bettsie Bon Bon, Cherry Shakewell, Crimson Skye, Emerald Fontaine, Duchess Divine, Felixy Splits, Folly Mixtures, Ginger Blush, Honey Lulu, Immodesty Blaize, Kiki Kaboom, Liberty Sweet, Luna Rosa, Miss Polly Rae, Miss Rose Thorne, Ooh La Lou, Siren Stiletto, Sophia St. Villier, Tallulah Tempest and Trixee Sparkle (to name just a few). Triumphantly, 2008 marked my 30th year in the burlesque industry. In June 2008, as Goodtime Mama Jojo, I performed at the "Legends" night for the Burlesque Hall of Fame's 52nd Annual Reunion Showcase in Las Vegas. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my career. I was celebrated as a "Burlesque Legend". I am the first British performer to ever be awarded this recognition and I cannot express how much it means to me. I love what I do with unbounding passion and I truly believe that every woman has the right to discover, liberate and enjoy the essence of her sensuality! My teachers are currently available to teach individual classes and private functions such as hen parties, birthday parties and corporate events. For more information just click on the General Classes button on the left. Please also go to my Contact Us page and sign up for our Fab! Newsletters. Churchill War Rooms

Churchill War Rooms
Deep beneath the bustle of London lie the original Cabinet War Rooms - today part of the Churchill War Rooms - which sheltered the people at the heart of Britain's wartime government during the Blitz. In 1940, shortly after becoming Prime Minister, Churchill stood in the War Cabinet Room and declared: 'This is the room from which I will direct the war'. Today, you can step back in time to explore the secret headquarters where Churchill and his staff changed the course of history. Find out the stories of the people who walked the maze of corridors as London was being bombed above them. See where Churchill and his War Cabinet met, sometimes late into the night, and look through the lens of history into the Map Room, where the books and charts have remained exactly where they were left in 1945. In the Churchill Museum, explore the man behind the image as you discover more about the influences and pressures that shaped Churchill's life and work. Visiting Open daily 9.30am - 6pm Last admission 5pm Closed 24, 25 and 26 December For More See http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/churchill-war-rooms

Bar Du Musee CafÃ©

Bar Du Musee CafÃ©
In 1969 Bar Du MusÌ©e opened as a tiny French bistro on Nelson Road, Greenwich, with the motto \Fine Wine and Good Food\. Today the bistro may have grown into a successful restaurant and nightspot but we hold true to that original concept with a delicious and unpretentious menu that changes with the seasons and a selection of good value international wine. Bar Du MusÌ©e's anonymous fronting keeps it somewhat of a hidden secret in Greenwich. However the front section opens up into a large recently refurbished conservatory area with an eclectic mix of furniture. Flooded with natural light it's the perfect setting for dinner drinks or a casual Saturday or Sunday brunch. In the evenings there is a fluid transition from wine bar to restaurant to late bar. Outside split level decking provides an ideal seating area for a sunny day or balmy evening. In summer we fire up the barbeque serving fresh burgers all day. For More See http://www.bardumusee.com
